Really great little place for dinner. Lively and a bit noisy (music) at dinner time, with a varied enough menu to suit everyone. Portions were huge and tasty, and the staff were lovely, explaining the menu patiently. Meat, fish and veg-based dishes all available, but we were advised to come towards the end of the week for the full menu to be available, which we'll do soon.

Very enjoyable dinner experience. Chungking mansion is a great place for dinner and Ghana Locals did not disappoint. Food was delicious, I recommend the pepper and/or peanut soup dishes and the fried rice platter, the skewers were great as well, very chewy. Service was very friendly and helped with selecting some dishes. We enjoyed the music and busy atmosphere from the surrounding shops.

Best African restaurant in Hong Kong? You've found it! Ghana Locals offers an incredible experience with bold flavors and unusual textures, but it's not for the faint of heart! Recommendations for beginners: 1) Jollof rice with beans, chicken, and fried plantain 2) Fried fish with akyeke (similar to couscous, but made from cassava) 3) Suya A.K.A spicy beef skewers 4) Kelewale (fried plantain) with roasted peanuts For gamey enthusiasts and seasoned stomachs: 1) Fufu (like mash, but stickier) and peanut soup with goat meat 2) Omo tuo (rice balls) and peanut soup with oxtail 3) Banku (like fufu, but made from corn) with okra soup and fermented fish 4) Spicy chicken gizzards Cost: Around HKD$ 150-200 per person if you order all the above and split by six people. Pro Tip: If you find yourself lost in the labyrinth that's Chunking Mansions, ask any African brother or sister for directions. You'll be in good hands!

We enjoy the food here. It tastes like home cooking. Ordered Jollof rice with fried plantain and black eye beans, and fufu in peanut soup with chicken. Both are really good. For atmosphere and environment - if you like the vibe of Chungking Mansion, this is the place for you.

Was so happy to finally find Ghana Localz. I love African food and have not had jollof rice for a while so thought I would purchase and share with others too. Unfortunately there was no plantain at the time or I would of reviewed 5 stars. The rice was tasty with ginger and peppery notes, the chicken great sized and roasted almost. My favourite was the beans and the peppery sauce. Will be back as I enjoyed my meal. The owner is lovely and her story is one for the books. Will bring my friends when the restaurant is opened.

30/08/2025: Tried okra soup this time along with the beloved jollof rice, blew me away with how good it was! I really like okra and this opened up my eyes on how to prepare this vegetable in a soup. Salivating as I'm writing this. Sadly I forgot to order the fried plantain but I definitely will next time. The ollof rice is still rocking my world! Gonna sleep so good tonight!! 18/08/2025: This experience definitely rewired my brain in some way. They are not playing when it comes to food and bold flavours!!! Highly recommend everybody to try it out. Jollof rice is a great first choice for everybody. Egusi with fufu if you like different textures and offal. 10/10 would come again 超好食!萬分推薦!! I ordered egusi with fufu as well as jollof rice for take away. The waitresses were very nice. By the time I got home the food was still very hot. Large portions as well! I dove into the egusi and fufu first. It was rich, smoky, and packed with flavour, incredible!! There was some cuts of organ meat along with meat, takes a little chewing but very good nonetheless. I'm a fan of offal and different textures. The dish was also pleasantly fishy and umami from a type of dried fish, I'm assuming stockfish. Needless to say, I pigged out on it along with the fufu. Would finish it all (but couldn't, suprisingly filling!), but I still got to try out the jollof rice. The jollof rice, oh my. First bite, I was suprised how flavourful it was!! It was smoky, fragrant, with just the right about of savouriness. Would inhale a bowl of this. The beans!!!! Caught me by suprise with how good it was. The chicken was well seasoned, a little dry on the outside but still goes great with the jollof rice. The fried plantain. As a certified plantain lover, I regret not ordering more plantain. They were amazing!!! I will definitely sleep easy tonight, might dream about these two dishes because they were amazing. The food is so good that I regret being full.

Do you want to have a taste of the exclusive African cuisine in a classic style ? Then Ghana Locals is the perfect place for you. Of course, every one is welcome. The price is affordable, and the food quality is satisfying. You also need to be careful because you may be tempted to have more. There's also provision for more demand. Thank me later.

We had a group dinner there as a first time try out. The food is mostly fried and can add spicy sauces. Overall very good value for money.
